Privacy Policy

Look Lut is a sandboxed macOS app. It can only read the folders you hand it in an open panel, and it remembers those folders as security-scoped bookmarks so it can reopen them the next time you launch it. Nothing outside what you chose is readable, and the app never asks for your photo library, contacts, location, camera or microphone.

Everything it works with is local, and stays local:

• Your LUT folders and your footage. Read from where they already live. Nothing is copied into a library of ours, and nothing is uploaded.
• Previews. Every thumbnail and every graded frame is rendered on your own GPU, on your machine, while you look at it.
• How you organize. Favorites, tags, folder colours and order, your shortlist, recent items, and settings like appearance, text size, thumbnail quality and Hide Duplicates. These live in the app's own preferences inside its sandbox container, keyed to the library folder they belong to.

None of this is sent anywhere, and none of it is readable by me. There is no place for it to go: Look Lut has no backend.

One thing, and only when you buy or restore Look Lut Pro: a request to the App Store, made by Apple's own StoreKit framework. That is the entire reason the app carries a network entitlement.

There is no telemetry, no usage reporting, no crash reporting, no licence check, no update check of its own and no remote configuration. The app does not phone home when it launches, when it scans a folder, when it installs an effect or when it quits.

Links inside the app (the App Store listing, the GitHub page) open in your browser. Once you are there, that site's own privacy policy applies, not this one.

Look Lut Pro is a one-time in-app purchase ($9.99, product id com.zeynepmuslim.look-lut.pro), sold and processed entirely by Apple. Your name, address and payment details go to Apple and never reach me: I do not see them, do not store them and could not retrieve them.

What the app receives back is a yes or a no. It asks StoreKit whether the Apple Account signed in on this Mac owns Pro, and unlocks accordingly. Restore Purchases asks the same question again. That is why there is no account to create, no licence key to keep and no device limit to hit: Family Sharing is on, so one purchase covers every Mac on your Apple Account.

Apple's privacy policy governs the transaction itself, and refunds are handled by Apple. Use of the app is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

Settings has a Feedback pane. It does not post anything to a server: it composes an email and opens it in your mail client, so nothing is sent until you press send, and you keep a copy of what you sent.

You can attach an optional diagnostics block, and the pane shows you its exact text first. It contains the Look Lut version and build, your macOS version, your Mac model identifier and installed memory, how many LUTs and folders your library holds, whether Pro is active, and your thumbnail quality and resource profile. It deliberately contains no file paths, no folder or LUT names and none of your footage.

Mail that you send arrives at [email protected], where one person reads it. Your email address comes along, because that is how a reply gets back to you. Messages are kept only as long as they are useful for answering you or fixing what you reported, and you can ask me to delete yours at any time.

Everything the app creates is a file on your own disk, in a place you picked:

• Effects installed into the Motion Templates folder you choose, and Camera LUTs copied into Final Cut Pro's Camera LUTs folder.
• Exported PNG frames, baked .cube files and exported metadata files, saved wherever you point the save panel. Importing a metadata file is always free and never leaves your Mac.
• A record of what it installed, so the manage sheet can tell you when a source LUT has changed or gone missing. It sits in the app's own Application Support folder inside its sandbox container.

To remove things: the manage sheet removes installed effects, and deleting the app removes the app. Its preferences and container live in your user Library and go when you delete them. There is nothing to request from me and no server-side copy to erase, because nothing was ever sent.

This site is a set of static pages. No cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising, no third-party scripts, and no web fonts fetched from anyone: the type you are reading is the system font already on your device.

It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which, like any web host, records standard request logs (IP address, time, page, browser user agent) to serve pages and block abuse. Those logs belong to the host and are not used to profile or advertise to you.

Two small things run in your browser and stay there: the menu bar clock reads your device's time, and, in browsers that support the Battery Status API, the battery gauge reads your real battery level so the fake desktop tells the truth. Both are read and drawn locally. Neither is stored or sent anywhere.

Look Lut is a color-grading tool for people working with footage. It is not directed at children, and since it collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either.

Rights like access, correction, export and deletion apply to data somebody holds about you. I hold none, so for the app itself there is nothing to request: the data is on your Mac, under your control, and you can inspect or delete it without asking me.

The one exception is email you chose to send me. For that you can ask what I still have, ask for a copy, or ask me to delete it, by writing to [email protected].

If Look Lut ever starts collecting something, this page changes first, with a new effective date at the top, and the change is described here rather than buried. The commitment behind the app is that its previews are rendered on your machine and its data is yours; a policy edit that quietly walked that back would not be worth the app.
